Join us in Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi, where your journey begins, following the footsteps of European explorers David Livingstone and Henry Morton Stanley. You'll see the monument where history took place with the famous question from Stanley “Doctor Livingstone, I presume?” – a pivotal point in history which paved the way for European imperial expansion and colonisation in the region. You'll get to experience the impressive Gishora drummer’s and visit their village and learn about their cultural importance in the region.

Your journey continues into the “Singapore of Africa” when you cross over to Rwanda, into the capital Kigali. Despite its troubled and unfortunate past, this jewel of a country is at the forefront of progression and development which really reflects on the warmth and hospitality you will receive. Our adventure takes you deep into a tropical forest to find the troop of chimpanzees in their natural habitat for a genuine close and personal encounter. You'll get to experience the beautiful city of Karongi which lies on the shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu. Another key aspect of your journey will be visiting the Pygmy village in Kinigi, seeing how they practice their traditional way of life.

Next step of your adventure, we’ll be heading towards Uganda. We’ll celebrate crossing the equator by foot, a key moment for any traveller! Your next few days will be at the beautiful reserve of Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) where we'll take our chances of seeing the Big Five! You'll also have the chance to see the mighty mountains gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO site.

Winston Churchill once described Uganda as “the Pearl of Africa” for its stunning beauty, various wildlife and diversity. We’ll dive deep into its post-colonial rule, visiting the former palace of one of the most brutal dictators, Idi Amin’s (often referred to as the "butcher of Uganda") and seeing his personal torture chambers.
