Journey back in time on our Mainland Yemen tour as you explore ancient mud cities and traverse dramatic wadis in the heart of the Hadhramaut region! This tour is designed for travellers seeking an authentic and immersive experience in one of the most culturally rich and historically significant areas of the Arabian Peninsula.
YPT was one of the very first travel companies to open Socotra up for tourism, and since then we have been very eager to expand tours to Yemen mainland. The Hadhramaut province, much like Socotra, has largely been spared by the Yemeni Civil War and is stable to allow tourists to return. Luckily, this hidden gem offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a perfect destination that few travellers have the opportunity to discover.
Our carefully curated South Yemen Hadhramaut Tour will have you journey to Shibam, also known as the “Manhattan of the Desert,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its impressive mud-brick skyscrapers that date back centuries.
We’ll also visit sites such as the ancient city of Al Mukalla, which was until recently closed to tourists; Tarim, the centre of Islamic scholarship, boasting historic mosques and a bustling marketplace; and of course, the breathtaking natural landscapes of Hadhramaut, including the stunning Wadi Doan with its picturesque villages nestled among lush greenery and towering cliffs.
As with every YPT tour, we’ll also make sure you sample delicious Yemeni cuisine and mingle with the locals. This trip to the Hadhramaut province will give you a truly unique glimpse into contemporary life in a recovering Yemen. We will provide you with a safe and comfortable environment while ensuring you have an unforgettable experience.
The tour commences in Cairo, Egypt, where we can arrange your return Yemenia Airways ticket. The tour is all inclusive with meals, accommodation and a visa for Yemen.
Our tours to Yemen are capped at low numbers for security purposes.
